The metallic series, a word or two.

I have been hesitant to post comments to my images, thinking that the images either worked, so needed no explanation from me, or didn’t work, and no no expiation would make a difference.
I may have been wrong.
I am now experimenting with a new technique which may take some explaining: I had begun to wonder what would happen if I could take the most delicate of natural objects, flower buds, leaves, petals, and turn them into metal. The idea kept playing in my mind for some time, until finally, I had to try it.
Not literally, of course, but photographically.
I began to play with the images, trying different things with different degrees of success. I had to begin to think of it more scientifically, think of how light reflects on metals, before I began to really get a firm grip on how to accomplish my ends.
What you’ll be seeing in all of the metallic series is not just a “ZIP” to sepia and there you are! Each image took hours before we got to the change to sepia, and each hour was time well spent…I hope you agree.

I had to begin to think of it more scientifically, think of how light reflects on metals, how does it look where the metal is flat, where the metal is crumpled? what are the differences between highly polished chrome and rusting iron? before I began to really get a firm grip on how to accomplish my ends.
